If You Walked in My Shoes

If you walked in my shoes,

Your soles would be worn to the skin.

You'd ache and you'd shake,

But you'd learn and you'd make

New goals for a life renewed.

If you walked in my shoes,

From place down to place

Your body would hurt,

But you'd know you were safe.

If you walked in my shoes,

You'd wonder and wish,

But at the very least

You'd eat a good dish.

For gratitude heals

The wounds of the soul.

And every step you take,

Is a step away from the hole.

If you hope and you dream,

Your goals, it will seem

Become closer than before

Every window and door.

Opens, even if seemingly locked.

For your gratitude

Keeps you from being distraught.

Open
